Very soon, the first call will ring again, and a good tradition blooms with it - the All -Russian campaign “Children instead of flowers”! This is a great way to start the academic year with warmth and care, uniting thousands of schoolchildren throughout the country in an effort to help those who especially need support.

The essence of the action is simple and touching: instead of many bouquets, the class gives the beloved teacher one, the most beautiful flower, and the saved products are directed to the aid of children with serious illnesses. This is not just savings - this is a choice in favor of good deeds, a choice in favor of life.

This initiative, which has become a real social trend, finds more and more responses every year in the hearts of schoolchildren, teachers and parents. The Nastenka charitable foundation, which supports the action, is gladly noted by an increase in involvement and an increase in the amount of donations collected.

The Russian Society of Colorectal Surgeons (RSCS) continues to actively strengthen its international ties, inviting colleagues from around the globe to friendship and collaboration.

The high level and status of our platform for knowledge exchange was confirmed by the participation of experts from 28 countries in the events of the Russian School of Colorectal Surgery (RSCSchool) in 2025.

Very soon, on September 12–13, the city of Artyom will host RSCS masterclasses, featuring in-person lectures and demonstrations from world-renowned coloproctology leaders — Professor Francis Seow-Choen (Singapore) and Professor Antonio Canero (Italy).

Meanwhile, the RSCS International Cooperation Department is reaching a new milestone. Recently, partnership agreements were signed with three highly respected international societies:

• The Philippine Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons;
• The Korean Society of Coloproctology;
• The Japan Society of Coloproctology.

The first steps in joint activities are already underway. Notably, our colleagues from Korea are inviting all RSCS members to take part in the International Colorectal Summit (ICRS 2025), which will be held on August 29–31 in Seoul. The program includes lectures by leading global experts, hands-on workshops, clinical visits, and extensive opportunities for professional networking.

During the same dates, August 29–31, RSCS Chairman Prof. Petr V. Tsarkov, RSCS President Prof. Inna A. Tulina, and other distinguished experts will participate in the 10th Annual Congress of the Colorectal Cancer Society, Chinese Medical Doctor Association (CMDA) in Beijing. At the Russia–China Symposium, our specialists will present their research and clinical experience in managing complex colorectal cancer cases.

We will continue to share updates on international events and partnership projects, as well as actively invite international colleagues to RSCS activities. Looking ahead, plans include joint scientific publications, expanding the knowledge base, and launching international fellowships.

Most importantly, we look forward to welcoming our international friends and delegations to the Russian School of Colorectal Surgery in 2026.

The XIV International Conference Russian School of Colorectal Surgery (RSCS-2024), held on September 20-22, 2024, was a triumph for the national colorectal surgery. Over the three days of the event, 1518 doctors from Russia and various countries gained access to the latest knowledge and technologies in the treatment of abdominal and pelvic diseases.

The key element of the conference was the speeches of 97 experts from 22 countries, who shared their rich experience and scientific achievements. Within the the conference, topical research was presented, promising directions in the treatment of colorectal diseases were discussed, round tables and interactive trainings were held.

One of the highlights of the conference was the 15 surgeries performed in real time. Doctors from all over the world were able to watch surgical interventions in an online format, which allowed them to gain valuable practical experience and deepen their knowledge.

“RSCS-2024 has become not only a platform for knowledge exchange, but also an opportunity to strengthen international cooperation in the field of colorectal surgery,” said Peter Tsarkov, Chairman of the RSCS. “We are convinced that the conference will make a significant contribution to the development of this important field of medicine in Russia and abroad.”

RSCS-2024 has successfully established its reputation as one of the most authoritative events in the field of colorectal surgery in Europe and Asia, as well as proved its importance for the development of this field in Russia.
